Visit CaLights

In 2003 I began work on a project traveling throughout California, discovering the lighthouses that grace our shore. I quickly discovered the rich history of these impressive structures and the courageous individuals lost to time. Over the next five years, I visited all of the existing lighthouse structures in California, photographing each with the cooperation of the United States Coast Guard, National Parks, State Parks, City Parks, Historical Societies and Preservation Societies. After researching California's Libraries, Museums, Historical Societies, and most importantly the United States Lighthouse Society, I completed "Lighthouses of the Golden State". Created from primary sources, including official documents, annual reports, personal letters and diaries. "Lighthouses of the Golden State", has a companion website located at CaLights which provides you with more current information, photographs and links.
